Parasite is a project that combine three different families of different economic levels, family members and lifestyles. Despite having diverse conditions, they will enjoy some common spaces in this project, while still having their own privacy.
The house is settled in a small cliff in Cabo de Palos, Murcia. This spot will allow the building to get benefit from the environment.
The building's access is on the level of the existing street. There people get to the "pit" of stairs that connect the 3 houses through 5 levels. The lowest one is partly embedded on the rocks, and face directly the sea. Is for a couple or just one person. The second house is the bigger one, with 2 levels and inner stairs. Is for a four-member family and has balconies for the parents and the children. The last house is also for a family but is quite smaller. All this households can use the terrace and enjoy the views.
The purpose of this project is to make the best of the bioclimate factors. Thus, to fight the high summer temperatures of the Murcian-coast I have enhanced the ventilation and the use of shadows. Windows and gaps allow the wind to ventilate and reduce the humidity as well as the water influence lower the temperature. The highest body of the building, protected from sun with cantilevers, create a nice shadow on the pit and the terrace. Moreover, being partly embedded in rocks lower temperatures. Last, the green roof helps regulating it.
